Our Mission
It is the purpose of Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe Public Broadcasting to participate in, report on, and reflect upon all aspects of life in northwestern Wisconsin. In doing so, we will present program services which are educational in the best and broadest sense of the word.
In carrying out its mission, WOJB-FM will:
-
Inform citizens of the significant issues facing society, thereby contributing to the development of communities so they are better able to deal intelligently with those issues;
-
Convey the cultural past of our region, before and after European settlement, and by so presenting it and making it known to the present generation, also preserving it for generations to come;
-
Entertain the public by presenting music, arts, and ideas in a manner appealing to the communities to be served, always recognizing that it is our purpose to serve and satisfy the listeners rather than ourselves as broadcasters;
-
Enrich the lives of our listeners and provide opportunities for personal growth by presenting material which will encourage new insights concerning life’s experiences and relationships between individuals, society, and our cultural milieu;
-
Increase participation of the public radio broadcasting through access programming, volunteer activities, advisory Outreach Committee planning, informal and structured learning experiences, and events sponsorship;
-
Reflect credit upon the Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and the Ojibwe Nation as a whole by being recognized nationally by professional peers and by being known to the general public within our coverage area as a radio broadcast service which exhibits outstanding performance in every facet of its activities.
